The story of my One Tiny Heart and Me

Lewis Family

After the birth of our daughter, Olivia, in November 2012, I wanted to reduce my patient load as a pediatric home health physical therapist. One day my husband, Carey, and I were dreaming about what that would look like for our family, and he encouraged me to think creatively. Being a classically trained violinist and full time musician, creativity comes natural to him, and he has always supported any avenue that I wanted to pursue. In the past, I have used creativity and crafts as an outlet for stress and to exercise a different part of my brain than I use in my professional life. Thanks to my mother, craftiness and creating has always been a part of my life, and with the encouragement of my husband and mother, I decided to channel my creativity in a different way. My mom and I made hand crafted cards for several years and I love to decorate for all holidays, so making banners for all occasions and holidays became a natural fit. I have recently expanded the shop to include hand crafted signs for holidays or home decor.

I love people, and this allows me to interact with others in an entirely new way. It warms my heart when I receive an e-mail or picture about how a mom-to-be loved the banner for a baby shower or how one of my signs was "just the right fit" for a gallery wall or nook in someone's home. Every item you see listed in my shop can be customized to your liking! If you see a sentiment you want but would prefer different colors or another look entirely, please e-mail me, and I’d love to design something just for you.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to watch my daughter explore her creativity as she grows. I find I am more patient, calmer, and happier when I create. She is the inspiration for the name of my shop, and she is as much a part of the work as I am.

Special thanks to photographer Grace Hill, graphic designer Robynne Trifiletti, and web designer Alissa Mandel for helping to make this all happen!

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and my One Tiny Heart and I hope you live well, laugh often, and love much! ∼Kristin
